Walk in the Rain Films – where art and our world meet.  We’re drawn to stories about artists who push against the status quo and make us look harder at who we are. 



Lise Friedman is coproducer of If the Dancer Dances, a documentary released theatrically across the U.S and streaming on Amazon Prime. She is a former member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, an award-winning writer (including Alvin Ailey Dance Moves! and two Children's Book of the Month featured titles), editor of Dance Ink magazine, and coauthor of Letters to Juliet, which inspired the idea behind the eponymous film. Her work has received support from the National Endowment for the Arts and New York State Council on the Arts, among others. She is on the arts faculty of NYU’s Gallatin School.

Maia Wechsler is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose films have been broadcast and seen around the world. Her films have been awarded Best Documentary-Women in Cinema Film Festival, Best Documentary-International Black Film Festival Nashville, Best Film Black Experience-International Black Cinema Berlin, Outstanding Documentary by the Academy Awards Documentary Screening Committee, the Jan Karski Film Award for Moral Courage and New York Times Critic’s Pick. Her work has received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, New York Foundation for the Arts, and Jerome Foundation, among others.
